Metal Workshop masters put their soul into their creations every time, and this always gives absolutely amazing results. Among the projects that we create, there are very different ones – high-profile, large-scale, exotic, technically difficult to implement… and there are projects that are completely special projects. Those that have an incomparable atmosphere.
One of them is the outstanding high relief “The Dunes. Sunset” created by us in 2022. It was a very ambitious idea to try to convey the fluidity and variability of the desert sands in brass. And it was another challenge to our professionalism. Metal, static, immobile by nature, should have been processed to give the appearance of smooth mobility, characteristic of dunes. From all the richness of brass processing methods, we had to choose those that would optimally convey the idea embodied in the project.
Means for the realization of the plan
To bring our concept to life, the workers of the workshop selected brass sheets, each of which was shaped according to specially created patterns and unique matrices. Each fold, each bend of the brass sheet was then additionally worked out by our craftsmen by hand.
The base was ready, but it had to be decorated. In order to achieve the desired arrangement of textures, maintain the desired color scheme and ensure the play of chiaroscuro, Metal Workshop specialists settled on polishing techniques followed by patinating the surfaces.
We carefully polished every millimeter of the entire rather large surface of the brass sheet, and then, using patination, gave its individual parts the effect of dark bronze. Then, where it was necessary aesthetically, additional polishing was carried out. We have done this to achieve maximum realism of the image.
As a final touch, the entire surface of the high relief was carefully covered with a specific varnish. This allows you to protect the surface of brass from further oxidation and for a long time will retain the amazing beauty of polishing. In addition, the varnish serves as an additional protection against possible mechanical damage.
All actions were carried out by our employees exclusively manually. This ensures not only the outstanding quality characteristic of all our work, but also complete exclusivity.
Achieved effect
The result is truly amazing. Thanks to an unusually successful combination of material and methods of its processing, the high relief of “The Dunes. Sunset” will remind you of movement and change, even where everything seems lifeless, frozen and motionless.
Additional LED lighting allows you to admire the play of high relief chiaroscuro endlessly, constantly finding something new and eye-catching. This makes “The Dunes. Sunset” an outstanding work of art, thanks to which you can enjoy the deep poetics of the desert sands while being away from it.
A variant of such a high relief can be ordered from the Metal Workshop. The original set includes 12 brass panels with a total length of 6.54 m and a width of 2.63 m. However, if necessary, our specialists will adjust its scale to your wishes.
The completely manual process of creating each high relief and the individuality of the forms created for it guarantee the unconditional exclusivity of each order. You can be sure: the existence of two identical copies of the “The Dunes. Sunset” is simply impossible, just as it is impossible in the desert the existence of two identical sand hills.
